Nomination Process

ALF accepts nominations year round. Nominations and applications are reviewed in the fall and invitations are mailed January through March for the class that begins in July every year

Who should be nominated to the American Leadership Forum of Oregon?

Fellows are chosen based on their demonstrated leadership ability and potential, professional stature, influence in the state, integrity, commitment, creativity, and initiative. To the extent possible, each class of 20 - 25 Fellows reflects the many diverse elements in the state.

Who can nominate?

Anyone can make a nomination. Applications are welcomed as well.

What is the time commitment required to participate? 

Each class commences with a full day orientation session in July, followed by a week long community building program in August and scheduled monthly seminars from September through May. Additional sessions will be scheduled by the class for the completion of the Leadership in Action phase of the program (year two).

How much does the program cost?

The total tuition is $9500, and scholarships are available.  Travel to monthly session sites, as well as accommodations while there, are also the responsibility of each participant.

When will ALF issue invitations for the upcoming class?

Invitations are generally mailed between January and March every year for the class that begins in July. Nominators will be notified no later than May 15th of the status of their nominee for the upcoming class.
