The ALF
Oregon Board of Directors invites Senior Fellows
interested in being a part of this vital group to
indicate their interest by completing a nomination
form. Senior Fellows from outside of
the Portland metropolitan area are especially sought for
board service. Board terms are three
years, and the board meets four times a year - twice in
Portland, once in southern Oregon and once in Central
Oregon. For more information, contact Chris Dudley,

Judy Johansen, Class XI
Judi has been
appointed by Governor Kulongoski as president of the
Port of Portland Commission, becoming the first woman to
serve in that role in the port's 116-year
history.
Judi
is the former president and chief executive officer of
PacifiCorp, and has served on the commission since
2003.
Nichole Maher, Class
XX
Nichole
has been selected to be part of the American Indians for
Opportunity Ambassadors Program, a 2-year program that
brings together 18 Tribal leaders from across the U.S.
to focus on retaining indigenous values while improving
communities through united leadership. Nichole
departed this month for the first meeting in a series of
four, this meeting taking her to Bolivia for 10 days to
meet with that country's first indigenous president, Avo
Morales, as well as to visit several indigenous
communities. Michelle
Girts, Class XIII
Michelle
has established her own business consulting service,
called EnTranRight, LLC. Most
recently Michelle has served as vice president/director
of CH2M Hill's Intellectual Property Office.

Steffeni Mendoza Gray, Class XX
Steffeni
has accepted a position as Government Relations
Specialist for the City of
Portland's Office of Government
Relations. Steffeni was formerly the
executive director of Oregon Council for
Hispanic
Advancement (OCHA). Her new work
email is steffeni.mendozagray@ci.portland.or.us.
Peggy
Fowler, Class V
Peggy,
the CEO and President of PGE, was honored on May 24 by
the Portland Metropolitan Association of Realtors with
their Annual First Citizen Award.

Nancy
Wilgenbusch, Class I
Founding
ALF class member Nancy Wilgenbusch has announced
her intention to retire as President of Marylhurst
University in 2008. Nancy has been president of
Marylhurst since 1984, and is well known for her many
outstanding achievements in college administration and
exemplary community service.
Gretchen
Kafoury, Class III
Gretchen
was the recipient of the Nohad A. Toulan Award for
Public Service at the sixth annual Urban Pioneer Awards
dinner, hosted in May by Portland State University's
College of Urban and Public Affairs.
Emceed by Clackamas County Commissioner,
Martha Schrader (ALF Class XXI), this annual
event honors community leaders who exhibit the ideals
taught to students and valued by College of Urban and
Public Affairs' faculty and community
partners.
Michael
Mills reports that he has learned the sad news that ALF
classmate Allie
Stickney's
husband of 30 years passed away last
month. Allie was in Class 9 with
Michael. Allie, who now resides in
Vermont, wrote that her husband, David Wagner, 69, died on May 15th
of
multiple myeloma, a cancer he
bravely fought for two and a half years. Gifts in David's memory may
be made to the David Wagner
Fund at Planned Parenthood of Northern New England,
183Talcott Road, Williston, VT 05495, a fund that
honors David
many contributions to
Planned Parenthood.
What
will it take to unlock Portland's full creative
capacity?
That is the question that Portland City Commissioner
Sam Adams, Class XIII, is asking Portland-area
citizens to help answer on Tuesday, June 12.
This unique
Arts & Culture Town Hall will take place from 6:00
to 8:00 p.m. at Portland
Center Stage (128 NW 11th Ave at Davis St. in Portland).
In addition to Commissioner Adams, other sponsors
of the town hall include the Portland Development
Commission, the Regional Arts and Cultural Council, and
Northwest Business for Culture & the
Arts. The
event is free and open to the public but space is
limited so you are asked to RSVP by Friday, June 8, 2007
to Polly Birge at pbirge@ci.portland.or.us.
